Arrived to home for a heat maintenance and ductwork inspection under home due to damaged ductwork from skunk. Couldn’t do either because the skunk is still under home and homeowner doesn’t want the system running until ductwork under home is replaced. Homeowner will give us a call when the skunk situation is taken care and aired out to schedule us to replace 3 duct runs in crawl space in kitchen. Also need to reschedule the maintenance after the ductwork is replaced.

Removed hard pipe and elbows in bypass duct. Added one complete box of flex on each side. Changed out 14” motorized damper feeding zone 1. Checked wiring and tested system to confirm function. Zone board appears to be functioning properly, aside from a blinking purge LED that denotes a lack of DATS sensor. There was never one installed. There is also a 5” duct running from the zone feeding the kitchen and dining room that actually runs back into the section of zone 2 and into a small bathroom. This duct is probably 40’+ long. We need to send out the drywall guy to repair damage around attic access. This is a plaster wall and ceiling, notsheetrock.

Upon arrival system not operational; tripping on high limit after 10 minutes. Had 93 degree air coming back through the return from the Barometric bypass. Found one return duct pinched around joist. Also found zone 1 damper motor stuck closed causing higher static pressure and more heat gain in bypass. Opened stuck zone damper. Adjusted 2 return ducts for better airflow, increased CFM from 1480 to 1930. Return air temp. Now 82 degrees. System is currently operational. Disconnected both zone motors for temporary operation. Need to remove bypass. Replace zone board and damper motors.

Found furnace kept shutting off on high stage after 15 mins of runtime giving error code of High limit open. All wirings were in proper position at equipment, tstat, and zone board. Gas pressure were within spec, static was well below .5 inches of w.c. Tested return bypass damper closed and open and system still persist. Previous system did exact same thing, will go over with management tomorrow and get back with customer ASAP.
