Came out to call to do a leak search, vacuum the system, and recharge the unit. System was running low on refrigerant when I came out last. After double checking it, I also found the washable filters to be severely dirty, causing an air restriction across the evaporator coil. Customer and I agreed on pricing before work was done. I took out old refrigerant. Put nitrogen in the system and checked for leaks. Found a minor one on gasket out at the condenser. Emptied the system of nitrogen and pulled an extensive vacuum on system. Was able to pull a good vacuum with no signs of any other leaks. Charged system with 43 oz’s of 410a, as recommended on nameplate. Cycled system on and checked operation in heating and in cooling. Had no problems with either mode. Advised customer to have unit replaced if any other issues arise, do to the amount of problems it has had and the amount of money it has cost him.

Came out to call for a system not heating properly. We were out recently for the same issue. Previous tech stated that the defrost control board wasn’t sending unit into defrost. Ran system in cooling mode to check operation. Unit wasn’t heating properly due to system being low on refrigerant. Discussed with customer about repair of system. Customer has had multiple issues with the system. He stated that he cannot afford to replace it, but does need it fixed. I recommended doing a major leak search on the system to try and locate a leak on the unit before charging it again. Customer proceeded to say that he can’t afford to fix the current issue and will need to wait till next month. Didn’t charge a service fee seeing we were out here last week for the same issue.

Defrost mode not disengaging. diy-18-hp-c-230ae Arrived for previous customer not heating well. Spoke with homeowner about the systems performance. It’s going into defrost mode and won’t come out of it. Inspected equipment took temp readings and ran system for 30 minutes. 100 degree out put. 28 degrees coming off outdoor coils. System never went into defrost. Spoke with homeowner about options, another tech was out and talked to him about replacing the defrost board. I will call homeowner tomorrow about parts availability and he will contact Lowe’s about warranties. System is running properly at this time. 14JAN2023 Jason B Spoke with Ron on the phone today, mr cool defrost board has been out of stock and will be unavailable until March 2023. He will call if it stops working otherwise contact him when the part is available with a price. Confirmed system was working over phone.

Arrived at the home because of the Mr. Cool system wasn’t heating properly and going into defrost and staying in defrost for longer periods of time. I started looking at the system and noticed it was very frozen up, so I switched system form heating to cooling to defrost the System outside. Once I got all of the ice off of the system I started looking at the pressures and noticed the system was low on refrigerant. I charged the system with with 1 lb of 410a checked pressures and also checked performance and made sure the system was heating properly. The system is heating properly at this time.

I arrived for a possible recall on a system throwing codes. I spoke with the homeowner and found that the system is throwing a code of DF. I explained that the DF means it’s in defrost and the system will take 5-15 minutes to go through its defrost completely. I recommended to let the system finish its defrost cycle completely before turning thee system off. I the system is taking to long in defrost the manufacture specifications state to add all new refrigerant back in from 0 and to change the defrost sensor. I made this known to the homeowner and we decided to see how it runs for now.

I arrived for a previous customer no heat call. I inspected the mini split system and do the system to be running in heat but barley blowing any air. I found that the homeowner cooks right under the head unit and the blower wheel is covered in grease and dust. This was preventing the blower wheel from grabbing air and blowing properly. I made this aware to the homeowner and we discussed the service cost and the cleaning cost and what a club maintenance provided. We decided to sign up on a blue club membership and to clean The evaporator coil with his club discount every 6 months to keep the grease off of the blower wheel as much as possible. I set up the cleaning curtain and pressure washed the blower wheel to free all the debris off the unit. I then cycled the system back on and we found it to have gained at least twice the air movement that it previously had. The temperature rise through the system is 35 deg with a supply air temperature of 106 deg.

21APR2022 Jason B Arrived for no cool on 1 ton mini split. Spoke with Ron about the systems performance. Everything is running, however it’s not cooling. Used 28oz 410 provided by customer, got low side pressure to 80 but still freezing at the lineset. Added 3 lbs of 410. 105 low side and 58 degrees at coil. Performed complementary leak search, but found no leaks. This system is cooling properly at this time. If the system loses its charge again I recommend recovering refrigerant, and reinstalling the equipment, with a new vacuum and pressure test. System is running properly at this time. It was great meeting you Ron and thanks for the coffee!!
