Goodman split heat pump, main level system. unit not turning on with call for heat. found that the thermostat was programmed for a gas furnace, instead of for a heat pump. also found that the outdoor unit was straight wired to run in ac mode at all times. corrected the thermostat and the wiring outside. once running, found system to be slightly low on refrigerant charge. added the refrigerant tested and the system is now heating very well.
