Great diagnostic

Mr. Stepp was very knowledgeable and educational. He pointed out what a was wrong with the unit and have honest pros and cons to the repairs. I would highly recommend him moving forward

Tech found the unit tripping the breaker immediately and found the compressor is grounded. Tech removed compressor wires and found blower running. Compressor will have to be replaced. Recommend replacing unit as it will be the cheaper option

Customer reports breaker for electric furnace in main panel keeps tripping. Breaker is brand new. Electric furnace is 36 years old. Electric Furnace was infested by ants. Filters are also very dirty. Tech used shop vac to remove ants. Bottom HS not running. Tech ohmed it and found it burnt in two. Needs to be restrung. Middle heat strip is not running due to 2 pole resettable snap disc marked L148 reading OL. It is visually burnt. Heat strip sequencer is a 4 stack. Looks like it has been replaced before. Appears to be working at this time. 1 of 3 heat strips is back working after replacing filters and clearing out ants. Tech quoted $763.58 regular price to order 2 pole snap disc L148 limit and restring bottom heat strip. Customer approved ordering snap disc limit and restringing heat strip. Need to order and return to replace. 1 of 3 heat strips are running. Customer declined getting system replacement quote. He is planning to live with his daughter two years from now. He will c

On arrival, tech confirmed indoor coil is leaking refrigerant. Detector indicated on indoor coil on high sensitivity, but not medium or low. Tech pumped refrigerant down into outdoor unit and removed indoor coil and drain pan. Tech slid metal horizontal drain pan under factory black plastic hooks in black plastic drain pan box around coil. Ran 4 beads of silicone caulk in seam between metal and plastic to ensure tightness. Slid indoor coil back into air handler and used 2 PVC caps to wedge under metal drain pan to support it and ensure it is pitched downslope. Flowed nitrogen while brazing indoor coil back to lineset and replacing biflow filter drier. Pressure tested and used soap bubbles to confirm no refrigerant leaks on braze joints done today. Pulled vacuum level as low as possible. System did not pass positive pressure test or standing vacuum test due to leak in indoor coil. Tech released refrigerant charge and added 1 lbs of R410a to get system cooling. Recorded pictures of r
