Talked to customer and took information for sales prooosal on a new 4-ton split system. Sales proposal given to manager.
Tech was informed upon arrival that they have noticed an odor coming from the system. Tech found blower to be compacted with duct and mildew tech cleaned blower and recommended plasma air to help prevent mildew from coming back in the future and to also help with odors. Customer approved and also extended esa via Visa card. Tech found no other challenges at this time unit is up and heating and cooling properly at this time.
Emailed proposal. Customer has to talk with wife before making a decision.
Tech found filter door screws missing, door fallen off, and blower belt broken. Only the blower motor was running (without a belt), but unit was not. No airflow due to broken blower belt. Existing belt looks like the side of it is flattened. Compressor contactor pulls in for a fraction of a second every few minutes. Tech replaced blower belt under service warranty. Ensured new belt is tight and secure. Not squealing. Secured filter door with screws. Tech found brazed-in low pressure switch closed, but high megohm reading across switch, likely due to unit cycling on low pressure due to broken blower belt. Tech bypassed low pressure switch with a low volt fuse and started system back up. System is back cooling at this time with low pressure cutout switch bypassed. Tech recommends replacing high and low pressure switches to prevent future issues, but system is back cooling at this time. Tech emailed quote to customer contact.
