Super Unhappy

Hey so I have had trouble with my Mitsubishi mini split all summer!!! I bought this unit because your salesman said how great it was ! I would never have any problems out of it! I had four calls and four different techs from your company come out. First one said nothing was wrong just needed to be cleaned, second said I needed freon, third said needed cleaning finally the fourth said I needed coils replaced! I have two going on three 600 plus dollar light bills! I keep dogs in my garage which this unit was bought to keep them cool it’s over 90 degrees some days in there! I am waiting two plus weeks for parts to come in for a unit that never breaks!!! Super pissed so glad we bought the expensive unit that doesn’t break! See you tomorrow to service my home unit!

Needs Improvement

System died on June 16. New system installed on June 26. I went 10 days without AC other than window unit in bedroom. Very disappointed in length of time for replacement. At times it got up to 90 Degrees in my house. Maybe you need more people.

Tech replaced pitted contactor and also washed outdoor coil due to water spigot being frozen last visit. After replacing contactor, tech tested system in each mode. Heat mode ran correctly and defrost cycle ran correctly, but low volt coil of new contactor started buzzing loudly after defrost ended. Tech cycled indoor and outdoor breakers off and remade connections for UV sunlight corroded tstat wire nuts. Checked all plugs on defrost board. Cycled power back on and tested system in each mode. Found no further low voltage issues. Tested heat, defrost, and cooling without issue. Refrigerant pressures and amp draws are in specs.

Upon arrival tenant stated they have noticed a musty/mildew like smell coming from system. Tech inspected system for any possible causes of smell. Tech found no challenges, all duct work is connected and in tact. No gas leaks, no issues within heat strip cabinet. Customer stated they ran system in cool mode this past weekend, tech stated smell most likely came from system when in cool mode. Tech stated this is normal operation if system hasn’t been consistently running in cool mode. Tech stated if this continues to happen after extended periods of running cool mode to let us know. System is operating properly. No charge per install warranty.

Downstairs system. Float switches are good, not tripped. Tech found no 24v to the compressor contactor due to a stuck open/faulty low braze-on pressure switch. Costumer stated the condenser was intermittently operating recently. Tech bypassed the pressure switch and checked refrigerant pressures after 10 minutes of operation. Refrigerant pressures are at a good level, not low to trip out a low pressure switch. Estimate was provided to the homeowner and would like to wait for the high/low pressure switch replacement for now and only approved a minor repair to get the system operating for now. High pressure switch is liable to act faulty as well.

Tech performed ESA on 1 system. Leak detector detected leak on evaporator coil, homeowner stated coil has been replaced before. Delta T is 21 degrees but homeowner would like service tech to come out and put gauges on to see if any refrigerant has been lost before summer gets here. Homeowner is available to be home on Friday afternoons. Tech found no other challenges or concerns with system. System operating properly upon departure.

Tech found noise was refrigerant lines going up The wall into the attic. Tech found pressure slightly low with a 8 degree subcooling data plate calls for 11 degree tech readjust pressures added 1 lb of 410 a. Pressure were adjusted to in heat mode and would have needed to return to readjust pressures for cooling mode on a hotter day when last repairs were made. System is operating properly and noise has significantly and customer stated noise is fine now. Tech believes noise is was amplified due to line set on a wall stud. System is operating properly at this time.

Tech was sent to adjust dampers to the living room/den area to allow bedrooms to get more heat. Thermostat is located in the living room/den and gets satisfied before bedrooms. This has been a challenge since house was built and dampers should be adjusted during maintenance visits. Tech did improve labels at dampers to make it easier for future visits. Due to recent addition to house, dampers may not need to be adjusted in the future. What was the exterior wall of the living room/den is now open to another room that has its own system.

Tech performed ESA on 2 systems, tech found no challenges or concerns with system/operations. Homeowner had to leave once tech completed upstairs air handler. tech unable to verify Delta T after service but before service Delta T’s were good. Tech showed homeowner how to use ecobee app on her phone. Both systems back up and running upon departure. Previous tech left 14x30x1 filter in upstairs return, actual size is 16x30x1, note that for next trip, today tech left 14x30x1 in return.
