I completed diagnostics and I shut air handler off at breakers. I replaced wet switch “puck” at secondary drain pan for air handler. I closed valves at heat pump and recovered the refrigerant from line set and evaporator coil - 2 pounds 8 oz of 410a. I removed existing coupler where leak was present and replaced with 12” 7/8 line set with double a swedge ends to couple. I installed new filter dryer.I cleaned up insulation on suction line. I tested system with nitrogen - held 300 psig for 20 mins. I vacuumed system to 1000 microns. Then purged system with nitrogen to remove any moisture or contamination. Put system on vacuum. System holding 400 microns after decay procedure was performed. Tested operation of heat pump to perform proper charge. The system need 6 pounds 13 oz of 410a refrigerant Everything was operational when leaving.

Upon arrival the homeowner stated the AC froze up and refrigerant lines were iced up. the blower was operational and filter was clean. I did advise the homeowner that filter was restrictive type. The system is estimated 3 pounds low on 410a refrigerant. I spoke to home warranty about issue, refrigerant or leak search was not covered. I quoted refrigerant top off per homeowner request. The homeowner authorized top off and timeline. The unit took 3 pounds of 410a. I quoted all possible repairs to homeowner. Everything was operational when leaving.

I completed diagnostics and found the reversing valve was ticking, voltage on R would fluctuate between 1.9-12 volts. I needed to change batteries in thermostat. I found the auxiliary drain pan switch “puck type” was shorted. I found moisture present in puck switch. After further investigation found the switch actually took on oil from suction line above as the insulation had traces of oil present which shorted the switch. I removed insulation to inspect and found leak on suction line at coupler at air handler. I checked pressures and the unit was low on charge. Charged unit to proper pressures and removed shorted switch from system. Note: system does have another safety inline for protection

I completed the diagnostics and found no operation from fan or compressor. While checking the voltage through the contactor it arched and system became operational. The contactor is pitted and burnt causing failure of cooling. Needs replaced. I quoted the repair and it was authorized and performed. Everything is operational when leaving. Based on age, having the outdated refrigerant, cost of repairs, not having a warranty I would prepare for replacement of AC in near future.

Upon arrival the homeowner had everything figured out. The homeowner decided he wanted a SMA as he is new to the home. I collected for service call and deducted the difference from the SMA. The system is operational upon departure.

Upon arrival the homeowner had a complaint of AC not keeping up and ice on valves and line set. I checked the filter - clean but a restrictive filter. I could hear the refrigerant swooshing. The system is approximately 5 pounds low on 410a. I gave the homeowner the follow options: Top off and timeline. Sealant and top off. Leak search and make repairs. Replace AC. Being the homeowner is new to the house and doesn"t have a history with unit, he wants to go with replacement.

The system is operational upon departure.

I arrived to perform a diagnostic on an air conditioner. Upon inspection, I found system off. Homeowner had the complaint of no AC the day before so she shut it off and left it running just fan. When she woke up fan was not running. Checked filter - clean. Checked blower wheel - clean and clear. Bearings are tight. Even with jumping “Y” or “G” no control with jumpers even with furnace control board having 28 volts. Was able to get the heat to jump on to check opportunities blower - 6 amps within spec. Furnace control board has failed to close internal relays for AC and fan preventing operation. Need to make repair to further troubleshoot. Checked AC operation by pushing in the contactor - compressor and fan came on. Explained to homeowner with the age of the furnace and the cost of repair I recommended replacing furnace.

Upon arrival the homeowner had complaint of AC not keeping up. I checked thermostat operation - normal operation . I checked amps on blower and they are within spec. I checked the blower wheel - clean and clear. The bearing are tight. I checked the blower motor capacitor and it is within spec. At the condenser the pressures are great! Checked amps on compressor and amps on fan are within spec. I checked dual capacitor and within spec. Condenser coil needs rinsed with water, quote $99, homeowner was to do this himself. Everything was fully operational when leaving.

I completed diagnostics and found the dual capacitor swollen and oil present. It needs to be replaced to further troubleshoot. I quoted the repair and the customer authorized and I performed the repair. The AC is now operational upon departure.

I completed diagnostics and noticed the fan not spinning with the call for cooling. The fan is free spinning. I checked the dual capacitor and this is out of spec and the reason for no cooling. I quoted the repair and the repair was authorized and performed. The system is operational but is showing signs of its age. Will have repairs needed in the future.
