I found Stan through a Nest thermostat tech support specialist who was looking for a technician to fix my setup so I could have heat again. He seemed very knowledgeable about HVAC systems in general, but specifically knew about smart programmable thermostats like Nest, which is not a skill that all HVAC pros have, not by a long shot.
