I was called to a home to fix a broken air conditioner. When I arrived, I found that the system was freezing up. I checked the refrigerant levels and found that they were low. I added more refrigerant and tested the system again. The air conditioner was now working properly. The homeowner was happy to have their air conditioner working again.
I checked the system and found the compressor tripping the breaker due to a high amp draw on the compressor. I recommended replacing the air conditioner and evaporator coil and installing a Goodman 2.5-ton AC with a matching evaporator coil.
