Client requested an estimate to replace a Lowboy oil furnace. I recommend replacing it with a Five Star Multi-Speed 2 Ton Electric Furnace and a Five Star 14 SEER 2 Ton Heat Pump.
I completed a diagnostic on a Carrier heat pump. The homeowner states the unit tripped the breaker and would not come on. I found a bad dual capacitor and compressor is not shorted to ground. I replaced the capacitor. The system came back on. I inspected it further and found the breaker is too small for this unit and they need to put in a bigger breaker. Operating normally at this time.
Went for a callback install. Upon arrival customer stated that unit was vibrating. After inspection found inner casing around condenser fan blades misshaped and blades hitting the side. Took too off and listened mountainside mg screws then reformed plastic away from fan. Tightened everything back and remounted too. Started unit and allowed to run with no further issues. Also found too cap vibrating so put foam tape on underside of cap to help with vibration. System operational upon departure.
Upon arrival I completed a Full Install of a Five Star 14 SEER, 2.5 Ton Heat Pump - FSGSZ14 | 4106; Five Star 2.5 Ton Multi-Speed Air Handler - FSGRUF | 4319. The system is operational upon departure.
Upon arrival I started leak search inside at evap coil. I got several small hits on evap then moved outside. Had a few hits on outside coil as well but no oil that I could see. System was low. Discussed options with customer customer as far as replacement and repair. He wants to try easy seal. I added easy seal and 3lbs of 410-a. Recommended that customer have us back out in the spring for a tune up that way we can track any leakage. At time of departure system operational. Carrier
