I completed a repair on a Trane Voyager commercial rooftop unit today. The 15-ton gas/electric unit was experiencing low cooling capacity. Upon inspection, the condenser coils were severely fouled with cottonwood seed debris. Using a 4000 PSI pressure washer, I thoroughly cleaned the coils. The condenser fan motors were seized, so I replaced them with new Genteq motors. After a full system evacuation, I recharged with R-410A to factory specifications. The Trane unit's airflow, superheat, and subcooling were brought back within recommended parameters. Proper cooling is now restored to the commercial space.
