Heating System Maintenance: During a scheduled maintenance visit, I performed a comprehensive inspection of the homeowner’s heat pump system. I checked electrical components, cleaned the outdoor coil, lubricated moving parts, and replaced a dirty air filter to improve airflow. After confirming proper refrigerant levels and testing the system’s heating cycle, the unit was running efficiently and ready to deliver reliable comfort throughout the season.
Customer's AC wasn't cooling. Found the outdoor unit running, but the indoor blower had failed. Diagnosed a failed blower motor and capacitor. Replaced both and tested for proper airflow and amperage. Verified supply temperature drop and system function. System is now operating normally, and the homeowner was relieved to have cooling restored the same day.
I was called to perform cooling maintenance on the HVAC system to ensure it operates efficiently during the hot months. I started by cleaning the condenser coils, checking the refrigerant levels, and inspecting the blower motor for any signs of wear. I also tested the thermostat for accuracy and replaced the air filter to improve airflow. After completing the maintenance, I ran the system through a full cooling cycle, and everything is now running smoothly, ready to keep the home cool and comfortable.
Diagnosed failed dual-run capacitor on 3-ton Ruud heat pump causing compressor hard-start issues and intermittent condenser fan operation. Capacitor tested at 32μF/5μF (rated 45μF/7.5μF). Also found contactor with severely pitted contacts causing voltage drop. Replaced both components and installed surge protector to prevent future electrical issues. Measured superheat at 13°F and subcooling at 10°F after repair—both within spec. Also performed amperage test on compressor (RLA 19.2A vs nameplate 19.8A) indicating healthy compressor despite capacitor failure. System now operating efficiently.
