So we had just bought our house and something went wrong with the AC and Heating at the same time. I called them on a Sunday and Joseph came out the next day and let me tell you he did some work yall! The only time he stopped moving was to inform me on what happened and where the problem was, then he went above and beyond that to let me know other things that might pop up later down the lines before we discussed what all I wanted him to fix! He never pushed me one way or another (price wise) and answered all my questions I had since this is a first time for me. I can officially say they will be who I use for anything AC/Heat related!!
Service was very professional and thorough. Alex arrived on time, looked at all aspects of our air conditioner, made recommendations and set up a follow up appointment to check out heater later in the year. We definitely will continue to use SouthCoast Heat & AC.
Performed maintenance on system, everything is with in range, capacitors are in range. Amp draw on compressor, blower fan, and fan motor all within range. Refrigerant levels show adequate charge, system has a 19° temperature split. Drain is clear and flowing well. Recommended a float switch in emergency pan, estimate is attached.
After review of the system growth of a foreign substance has been found covering the inside and outside of the system. Return chase filled with water staining from top of return to the bottom, excess moisture can cause mold/mildew. Unit internally had large amounts of growth covering all components, blower wheel which distributes air was covered in this growth which would have distributed spore particles throughout the ductwork and home causing growth and unhealthy air in other parts of the HVAC system and home. Unit and ductwork should be replaced to make sure no remnants of this growth are left to regrow. These could be mold spores which can have very serious implications for someone’s health if not resolved, proper testing of growth will be important so we can isolate what it is and remove it promptly.
Found transitions from furnace to return and furnish the coil not take properly or sealed sealed up transitions from return to furnace and from furnace to coil found system low on freon recharge freon no guarantee on freon if Freon leaks out quickly we will have to do a leak search
Arrived at 5:00pm on Friday June 25th with no answer at door or phone. Waited 20 minutes and left.
Installed 3 Ton Condenser/Coil Ruud system, drain pan, float switch, heater feet, copper work, drywall repair, 16 Seer system & 10 Year Parts/10 Year Labor
Check blower motor amperage and capacitor for blower motor check primary drain and blue primary drain check secondary pan and secondary drain check the evaporator coil checked all duct work checked temperature differential check condenser fan motor amperage and compressor amperage check capacitor and contactor check Freon levels
Compressor is bad and will be swapped out under warranty by manufacturer.
Found system low on refrigerant, need to add freon no signs of visible leaks, may need to do leak check in future
New coil that was installed 2/4/2021 has a leak, we will be replacing the coil under warranty after we get it in from manufacturer, typically a 5-7 day lead time is required.
maintenance: performed heating maintenance on furnaces. Both systems acheiving 35 degree temperature rise in heat, and 18 degree temperature splits in cooling.
Tested downstairs unit and it had no Freon, customer authorized us to do a leak search and isolate leak to determine further repair options. During leak search we discovered a very large leak on the indoor coil and it will need to be replaced and system charged with 8lbs of Freon to correct issue.
Will be sending Joseph building plans via email.
Repair: heat kit on Whirlpool air handler is only running 1 set of the heat strip. Recommend replacing heat kit, but need to find out what we can get in terms of heat kit replacements as Whirlpool no longer manufactures heating and cooling equipment.
Tune up: perform tune-up on two heating systems. Both systems achieving 36 degree temperature rise. A few segments of ductwork have inner liner exposed. Emergency drain pan on upstairs unit it's starting to rust. Recommend replacing emergency drain pan for upstairs unit, and repairing three segments of ductwork to provide best efficiency. Also recommend breathe easy packages to keep air clean and safe.
