Upon arrival inspected unit and found low on R410a. Unit severely low at 30psi suction and 120psi liquid. Quote to add refrigerant and inform homeowner of large leak. Unsure of current location she wants a leak search done at a return visit, getting unit back going today unit took 2lbs r410a my van stock was down to that last 2lbs - grabbed another jug R410 from office - add additional 1lbs r410a to get system cooling properly until return visit for leak search. Replace failed ecm motor with new oem ecm motor. Test run operation for fan only and ac operation. Blower system is operating properly at this time.
Did not hear noise while on site. Blower motor is in the stages of failing. 10uf capacitor is reading 8.7uf, there is visible oil staining on the oside of the motor body from a failed bearing, and loud vibrating/rubbing noise upon motor startup. Quotes for replacement will include oem motor replacement , and universal motor replacement.
Perform leak search to attempt to find leak. Finding the leak is not guaranteed. If the leak is found, repairs are not guaranteed either. Any repairs, if possible, will be quoted separately after the leak search is performed and only if the leak is found, and repairable. Found area of leak in a non repairable spot on the indoor air coils. System can be charged up for temporary cooling, but replacement is highly recommended at this point. Charge in 5lbs of new r410a refrigerant to bring system back to factory operating specs. Leak stop/UV dye cannot be added again as it has already been added to the system prior to today.
Inspection of furnace shows that blower motor is non operational. Control board is sending proper 120v and 24v but blower motor is not doing anything. Prepared quote and sent over estimate.
Upon arrival homeowner informed me of unit freezing outside and having to be shut off. Started unit up and inspected outdoor unit and found low on r22. Quote r22 recharge was approved, add 3lbs r422D r22 substitute. Unit is back cooling with 230psi-16°/63psi-17° Unit is 20 years old, coil is deteriorating outside. Unit should be considered for replacement soon. Homeowners also potentially interested in mini split addition to 2nd floor due to lack of cooling capacity upstairs.
Upon arrival inspected unit and found compressor not operational. Inspected 45+5 capacitor tested 5.0+3.25 replaced new today. Believe the condenser coil being clogged was a cause of taking out capacitor along with very hot days lately so extended runtime. System checked out okay after coil was cleaned and capacitor was replaced.
