Upon arrival inspected system and found control board was faulty killing 24v to system. Tested stat and transformer both tested good board is source problem drawing power down. Replace control board and test run unit. System is heating just fine post repairs.
Preventative maintenence Inspection on Bryant high efficiency furnace running in great condition. 20x25x1 air filter is new today. Old filter was filthy and in backwards. Drew arrow above filter door to eliminate confusion. Clean flame sensor and check ignitor. Visual inspection of burners. Flush condensation trap and drain lines. Run test unit in heating mode. Temperature rise is within specs. Blower and inducer motors tested good. 3" pvc flue in good condition and no sign of leaks. 0PPM CO detected during testing. System is operating properly, efficiently and ready for Winter.
Upon arrival, system is in emergency heat mode for heating. There is an audible refrigerant leak when the door is taken off. Located refrigerant leak on a bend in the pipe just after the filter drier. The leak is a micro crack in the copper joint. Inspected area of leak and fund a sufficient amount of black residue matching the consistency and smell of acidic refrigerant oil commonly seen with a burned out compressor. With the recent compressor replacement, is is suspected that the refrigerant had been contaminated and the acidic oil has been eating away at the copper. Other issues found with the system include bypassed safety switches, burned wires, and an incorrectly plumbed hot water generator. There is also some kind of water in the bottom along the coaxial heat exchanger that could be evidence of a leaking coaxial heat exchanger but could not verify as the ground loop solution is unable to be distinguished between glycol or alcohol solutions. During the recent inspection of the bathroom exhaust fan, we noted that the fan currently vents directly into the attic without a proper cap. To determine the full length and path of the vent run, we would need to remove the drywall.
