Arrived onsite and the resident explained how the microwave seemed like the power was on and off to it, and then showed me a dimmer in the hallway outside the kitchen that had flickering lights attached to it. The only time it didn’t flicker the lights was on the lowest setting. After pulling out the outlet for the microwave we found it was wrapped around the screws in reverse and the hot leg was barely floating on and off connection wise. As for the dimmer, i pulled that out and found it to be faulty. I continued in my assessment and found no bonding at the hot water heater, some older devices, but then some more immediate issues in the main electrical panel such as the heat damage and burning on the hot water heater breaker, there was 2 circuits that had shared neutrals, no surge protection, and most of the connections were loose inside the panel.
