Upon arrival, owner stated his downstairs system is making a loud noise. Found multiple concerns with 1997 up flow system in attic with condenser on right side of home with multiple concerns. Owner understands this system is past its life expectancy and any attempt to keep it in operation is likely a waste of money. Owner had to leave before putting together quote for repairs to attempt to keep it in operation. System is not operating properly and should not be operated in current condition. We have set an appointment for an installation manager to come out today between 3-6:00.
Performed full system diagnostic. System was low on refrigerant due to a lineset leak. Lots of oil found on the suction line outdoors. Low pressures were causing the system to run and shut down due to the low limit switch. Found microbial growth inside the evaporator coil as well. Unit is still under warranty as it was registered. Quoted different solutions.
Upon arrival to customers home we noticed the electrical panel and meter outside either took an electrical surge or lightning strike. The main electrical panel has run marks and melting at the main lugs. The main electrical panel bus bar also has burning. Outside the meter shows signs of melting on the neutral lug where it screws into the meter can. WAS NOT DUE TO AGE ORWEAR AND TEAR. We installed a new meter with outside emergency disconnect/ service disconnect. Updated grounding system and installed new 42 space panel. Updated gfi devices where needed and also installed smoke detectors
