Performed diagnostic on 9yr old Goodman ac unit with a 26 yr old trane furnace, upon arrival tenant stated he was taking care of payment, stated unit stopped working two days ago , checked tstat, cycled to ac mode, nothing came on, inspected furnace, found in closet in very bad shape, found rusty flu vent also noticed wasn’t connected, explained not safe to run, recommend replacing flu vent, blower wheel heavily impacted, recommend pulling and cleaning, explained motor can still fail after cleaning, blower capacitor reading below specs, recommend replacing blower capacitor, duct work is in bad shape as well, recommend new supply plenum and running new duct work, return plenum in poor shape as well, found no voltage goin to control board, added fuse popper and unit started up, inspected outdoor unit, found condenser coil impacted, recommend chemical cleaning, found contactor burned and pitted, recommend replacing contactor, condenser capacitor reading below specs, recommend replacing
Customer moved forward with repair for cleaning drain line. Added inline float switch to system and cleaned drain line and removed water from drain pan. System back up and running.
Upon arrival customer stated that ac unit had stopped working as of yesterday. After inspection of system found that unit had a drain pan full of water that activated the pan float switch and turned system off. There was a clogged (16x20x1) system filter and qty 2 (14x14x1) clogged filters in the return vents inside home. The system froze due to no air flow. Checked over system by by passing the float switch to ensure unit turned on and everything came on. Blower capacitor is testing bad. The disconnect was by passed and load is hooked into the voltage coming from panel, wires do need to be separated and new disconnect installed. Checked outdoor unit capacitor and contactor tested good with no issues, condenser coils are very dirty. Gave customer estimate to remove water from drain pan, replace bad blower capacitor, clean outdoor condenser coils, add in line float switch and wet pan switch.
