Jay and Benjamin did a great job yesterday installing the new dehumidifier. Their service went above and beyond when they identified ductwork that was disconnected and leaking. They showed us the problems (along with other non-hvac concerns), gave us a price estimate, and made the needed repairs. Another great job by Comfort Central.

Recommend replacement of kitchen/dining zone valve as the valve is bypassing hot water without a call for heat and will over heat the kitchen/dining zone when other zones are calling.

Customer noted system making shuttering noise and turned off boiler until our arrival. Checked boiler operation - system appears to run normally at this time. Boiler internal pump amperage is .76 and is rated for .76 amps. Boiler burner appears to be degrading - recommended to replace burner with the WM maintenance kit that includes burners, gaskets, ignitors, pilots, everything included in the combustion side of the boiler.

Cleaned filters on ERV and tested operation of ERV system. Treated ERV condensate drain. Everything runs normally at this time. Recommend cleaning of minisplit systems in spring. Talked with Kevin about addition of a whole home dehumidifier to system - will not be able to tap into the ERV but would be able to add one potentially in crawlspace and duct in a return and supply to help address moisture issues. Kevin gave a rough estimate of $4500 but said to call and schedule an estimate so he can give an exact price.

Found condensate pump full of water. Plugged it in to a different electrical cord everything started working no other issues found.

Customer complaint about mini split dehumidification during summer months causing high humidity when in dry mode. Tested minisplit in both heat and cool finding all electrical components and refrigerant balance within manufacturer's specifications. Referenced system manual to attempt to change dry mode settings. Will recommend a return in spring to check dry mode operation as it does not want to dehumidify without a cooling load on the building. Upstairs may require additional dehumidification but can be more accurately tested when outdoor temperatures and humidity are higher.
Found heat pump going off on high-pressure at 600 psi. Generally this happens because not enough air movement is going across indoor coil. Plugged a 3 inch hole that was around the line set to try to get more air through the coil. Plugged the floor, where the copper comes through the floor. Checked The blades on the indoor blower wheel. They they are clean. Check both sides of the evaporator coil. They are clean. Check the bottom of the evaporator coil to make sure it was having good contact with the metal it sits on. Led sped the blower up too high. None of these things made any difference. I believe the ductwork on your house can’t handle the amount of air that is required for a 4 ton unit. This would make the coil overheat, which would cause the pressure on the high side to go up and cycle the outdoor unit off on high pressure. Replace the site glass. Filled boiler up past heat exchanger line to verify that heating exchanger doesn’t have a leak. Drained excess water started boiler no other issues found
