Overall service was timely and good. Tried to sell me a rain sensor for $300 saying it was now required by my water company. It’s not required by my water company Lakeway MUD. It is required by TC WCID 17 but my community is not served by that entity.
Response from Andy's Sprinkler, Drainage & Lighting Austin Office:
Thank you for your review! We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration. We are sorry for any confusion about the rain sensor. We will make sure to clarify our policies and procedures with our Techs to avoid any misunderstandings in the future. Thank you for your understanding.
Great, thorough, fast, and courteous service.

Originally scheduled for a week prior, but was rescheduled the morning of that appointment. Pricey repair, but the service was completed quickly.
Quote is for running new wire from the controller to inside the back fence due to water softener company cutting the wires in multiple places. Recommended to replace valves with faulty wiring due to shorts. Also customer wanted to replace Hunter pro c controller. If smart controller is not wanted about $220 would be removed due to basic controller being cheaper. 1 valve on zone 1 was replaced and zone valves 2, 3, 4 and the drip valve for zone 7. All repairs were made and checked per quote. No additional repairs at this time.
Warranty return visit because a head is still leaking. A rotor on zone 4 is leaking water, determined that the zone 4 valve was passing water. Located and replaced the zone 4 valve.
I came to look into getting water to the sides of the foundation, and to check the system. Zone 1 will need 2 nozzle changes, and a new (additional) head to complete the coverage. Zone 2 is a drip zone that will be expanded for the right side foundation. Zone 4 (zone labeled backyard) is also a drip zone at the very back behind the new pool, and this zone will be expanded for the left side foundation. I’ve put everything together into a quote with a much more detailed explanation. I’ve attached the quote to this invoice.
Customer called us out because he had a leak in a valve box and the handles to his back flow (DCA) were rusted and broke off. Customer decided to replace the DCA up to code which we also installed a PVC ball valve before the DCA. Also next to the new DCA we cut out and replaced 2 valves with rainbird 1in DVF valves. The leak was at the T going into one of the valves. After we finished the work we turned the water back on and the meter still moving at 0.34. We turned the ball valve off right before the DCA and the meter is still moving which is telling us there is still a leak on the domestic side of the water line or something in the house. We left the PVC ball off leading to the irrigation for now.
I came to figure out a leak, and diagnose the system. There were 6 zones here originally. Zone 2 is actually 2 zones tied together in the field, and zone 4’s valve has been eliminated. However part of zone 4 has been piped into zone 5. There are only 4 zones here now. Today, I repaired the leak by replacing the zone valve for zone 1 (passing water). This solved the leak. I also replaced a 4” head on zone 5. I checked my work, and spoke with the customer.
Customer called us out because road construction caused some damage. Only found 1 head damaged due to construction, replaced 1 broken 6in head at the end of zone 4. Also found 3 other 4in heads that were sticking and 1 broken rotor, customer approved repairs. Sent customer an estimate to replace old and rusty backflow device that has bent handles.
Customer called us out for a leak in the irrigation system. Dug up where the most water was at and found 3 pipes that were being crushed between 2 very large roots that was causing a constant leak on the mainline. Had to cut out roots and repair wires and all the pipes and re pipe in a rotor. All repairs were made and checked. No additional repairs at this time. There is no longer a mainline leak. Meter reads 0.00gpm.
Inspected system and found no issues with drip. Recommended real green
Customer called us out for a broken head. Broken head in corner of path and sidewalk on zone 1, found 2 more broken heads on zone 2, 1 in corner of path and sidewalk and 1 in center right yard. Customer approved repairs, no other issues found.
During the system check, minimal issues were found throughout the property. The client had concerns about the controller not working and requested that we replace it with a new one. After the controller was replaced one spray head in zone two was flagged to be replaced due to the casing being cracked. One rotor in the backyard in zone four was flagged to be placed as it did not rotate. A total of three nozzles were flagged to be replaced as they were clogged and did not allow the water to spray properly. All of the issues were presented to the client, and approval was given to complete all of the recommended repairs.
Inspected and winterized system. No issues found.
During the system check, several issues were found throughout the property. A total of nine pop-up spray heads were flagged to be replaced due to the heads, either leaking at the base of the stem and body, or not retracting after the zone was shut off. The valve for zone 10 was stuck in the closed position mechanically, and did not allow for water to flow to the sprinklers. In addition to the valve, zone 10 had a total of five broken lateral lines that needed to be repaired/capped. These were flagged to be repaired as well as the valve for zone 14. When checking the valves at the controller electrically, zone 14 had zero ohms, which indicates either a bad solenoid, or a severed wire. After multiple hours of investigation, it was determined that the valve for zone 14 is underneath a cemented walkway on the right side of the house. A separate estimate with investigation time and labor will be sent to the client to find and repair the issue with zone 14. All of the issues listed above w
After inspecting the system I found a couple things wrong. I found 3 drip leaks, 2 sticking heads, and zone 5 reads open loop at controller. However when I tested to valve it had good ohms but wasn’t receiving power. It is single strand in the field and multistrand in the controller. It is either a bad connection at the junction or a broken wire in the field. For this I would need more investigation because junction is covered by rocks and and gas line.
Customer call us out because of a leak and over all system check. We determined that the leak is on the main 2in house line and leaking before the cross connection for the irrigation system. After explaining this to the customer we did our system check and found a broken head in zone 5. We replaced the head with a 6in PRS head. Also we replaced a nozzle in zone 7. The custom labor charge is for the digging and searching for the leak that ended up being the main line for the house
For this job we will be inspecting the system for major leaks or issues before shutting the system down for the winter. After inspecting I found a couple heads sticking but other than that no major issues. This customer has a RPZ so we will be turning the water off completely from the isolation valve. I also opened the test cocks and blew air to get as much water out as possible. I’m also running each zone valve for 4 minutes to drain out as much water in the mainline as possible. The test cocks on the rpz will remain open until we return in the spring.
