Rough plumbing in place in the lower left-hand corner of this kitchen wall, mid remodel picture. Note the copper water pipe and the ABS drain pipe, which replaced galvanized water pipe and cast iron drain pipe. Why? Because the replacement materials will outlast the original materials. That is important to landlords because it reduces their maintenance costs. We have spent many years experimenting with different materials and installation methods & doing this kind of cost/benefit analysis.
