Came out today to inspect the fireplace above the garage due to another company coming out and saying it was unsafe. What I found is that it is a freestanding propane stove, it is completely filled with such, the glass door is broken and has about a 1/8’’ gap Between the panes of glass. I don’t believe the unit was ever converted from natural gas to propane but I can’t tell for sure without getting into the unit which I won’t do due to the broken glass window. The venting is a single wall 4 inch pipe meeting a B vent elbow sticking out of the wall. Being that it goes through an interior wall I can’t verify the clearance to combustible but I don’t think it is meeting the certain clearances. I talk to her on the phone and gave her a couple of options of optional heat sources but she doesn’t want to Spend that amount of money on such a small apartment.
