Ac clean and tune. Used coil refrigerant sniffer on indoor coil unable to find any indications of a leak of refrigerant. Cycled system. Checked and cleaned electrical compartment. Found that the contactor was very worn. Tested capacitor, tested lower voltage than recommended. Capacitor failed. Used megometer to test compressor. Tested showed that compressor failed inspection. Tested at 20 ohms. Used coil cleaner on condenser. Hooked up gauges and checked pressures and temps, ok. Tested sub cooling and superheat, both ok. Split was normal. Average life of this unit is 14 years, this system is 23 years old and in poor condition. Failure is expected. Second opinion recommended. System is cooling job complete.
