Under warranty, had to pay



Well, my heater had gone out and it was really cold that night. The after hours girl told me since I did not know if I was under warranty, I would have to wait until the next day when she got in to look it up. I told her that I had kids here and we were freezing, she responded repeating what she had just said.Then around 9 ish am, I got a call from Budget saying that someone would be out around 11. She was super nice and polite. When Greg arrived, I was sleeping and the breaker panel is in my room so I opened the door to chat with him. I explained that the breaker had tripped on Thursday and I re-tripped it back on. But then Friday it tripped and would not come back on. I told him it was probably because I had been using the emergency heat more than the heat pump. I also told him that I was reading my information from Budget and I saw that I was under warranty until 3/6/16 and it was 3/5/16 when he arrived. Then he told me that I would have to pay a service call. The girl that called me saying Greg was on the way should have said something about the service fee or Greg could have told me before he started. That is very unprofessional to do business that way. I was part of the Jefferson County Weatherization program which is for the disabled, elderly,and those having trouble with paying their bills. It was a free program and when they installed everything last year, I asked about service calls and was told to call when ever we had any problems and that there should be no cost. So, needless to say, I was really surprised when I was told it was $89 for the service call when all he had to do was re-trip my faulty breaker. I am disabled and live on $800 per month and I had to call a family member to get the money for the charge.
