Upon arrival found upstairs system not cooling properly. Homeowner stated that he’s had to put Freon in upstairs system before and previous company stated that there was a leak in the coil. Did a visual check on the coil and found it rusted, found that there were signs of oil on coil. Found that the blower capacitor was reading 4.2/5. Checked outdoor units pressures and found system to be about 4lbs low. Found capacitor starting to get weak on compressor side and failed on fan motor side. Found contactor pitted from normal wear and tear. Found outdoor coil is dirty and needs to be cleaned. With amount of repair work needed and system out of warranty recommended replacing system, emailed options to repair or replace. If 14 seer system is chosen then system would need to be a 2.5ton. Homeowner wants to go over his options.
