After accessing the existing boiler system it was determined that just changing the zone valve powerhead was not the problem. Customer had “runaway” heat in the bedroom. The entire valve body would need to be changed. Expansion tank is outdated and there is a good amount of corrosion on the supply and return piping. Boiler system is 19 years old. Chud does not recommend draining this system and repairing as it could cause more problems. Existing low voltage wiring needs to be addressed as well to eliminate old relays and transformers. There is a steel frame around the equipment which adds to the difficulty to make repairs on this system. Chud will provide a quote to update the equipment and boiler “trim kit” accessories.
