Came out today to perform a leak inspection on a system that has been low on refrigerant multiple times now. Dye was injected on 5/22. Removed the fan from the condenser and started searching for a leak using a uv light and an electronic leak detector. I received no hit at the condenser. I moved to the evaporator coil’s and removed the access panel. There I found that the system was starting to freeze. I also found traces of uv dye in the drain pan and coming off of one of the elbows of the evaporator coil. This tells me that there is a leak in the evaporator coil’s. The system is from 2012 and is in rough shape. My professional opinion the system should be replaced . I do not recommend running the system, it would just freeze due to lack of refrigerant.
