Existing air handler is a 2 ton ICP unit. Outdoor unit is a 1.5 ton ICP unit. R-22 refrigerant. Air handler is 42” tall, 16.5” wide, and 21.5” deep. Homeowner would like the unit on the existing angle iron/wood. Attic opening is 26.5” by 24”. After speaking with the homeowner and verifying the air handler and outdoor unit have separate circuit breakers I prepared 6 options. I advised the homeowner that I will need to verify the new air handler will fit, as the old one is 42” tall. I will schedule a return visit to present the options when both decision makers are home.
