Wine room is maintaining 55 degrees. Waited for storm to pass. Installed low-ambient controls for Wine room condensing unit on roof. Also installed crankcase heater on compressor. Set cut-in and cut-out pressures. Tested operation.
Complaint: Wine cooler not keeping temperature. Showing AL. Overnight low was six below. I turned on unit and found pile of ice forming at evaporator and let. Appears low on Freon. I went up to roof. I blocked outdoor coil to simulate warmer day. Conditions with coil blocked: amp draw: 7.1A. Liquid line: 58. Suction line: 45. Unit was not able to keep up with extreme cold ambient temperature. Also, system may be low on Freon or have a Freon restriction. Cannot tell with current conditions. Suggestions: system may need a low-ambient kit to keep pressure is high enough during extreme cold weather. Need to check with manu. about low ambient kit recommendations. Freon pressures need to be checked under warmer conditions. Over 60 Fahrenheit.
Cleaned & checked gas furnace. Inspected heat exchanger & flue venting. cleaned burners & flame sensor. Checked voltage & amp draw of motors. Test capacitor. Found basement pressure negative (-.005 inches water column) due to leaks in return-air ducting and return air vents blocked by curtains and dirt. Moved curtains. Adjust Blower: 3.0A . Inducer: 1.0A . Adjust Gas pressure: 3.6 inches water column. Temperature rise:48 . Supply: 115 . Return: 67. Basement: <-.001”.
