Complete: Amana Split HP: HO said system was making a loud banging noise last night and it’s happened before but never replicates while technician is here. Checked system thoroughly. Amp draws, pressures, start up amps, pumped system down, capacitor, cycled system. I saw and found nothing mechanically wrong. When I turned unit off the compressor did make a rattling noise like an engine turning off. She said it was that noise but much louder. She asked about replacing the compressor. I spoke with her about one more potential remedy so I added a hard start to the system. If this doesn’t work we may need to look at changing the compressor. The fan balance was normal. System working great at this time.
