I am a home service technician, and I recently completed a job at a customer's home. Upon arrival, I found that the unit was not cooling. I checked the unit and found that the condenser fan was very hot. It seemed like the system was cutting in and out intermittently. I checked the amps and found that the condenser fan was over amping as well. I suspected that the motor was faulty and needed to be replaced. I went ahead and replaced the motor with a rescue motor I had in my truck to get the customer cooling. We will return with the actual motor next week. The customer paid $150 for the service today.
