The air handler in the garage has an extreme static air pressure. The machine is designed to operate with a maximum pressure of 0.50” W.C. but it is currently running at 1.10” W.C. This extreme air pressure is damaging the system and decreasing the life. High static pressure will cause mold growth inside the unit and ductwork, damage the fan motor, cause premature coil failure, increase the electric consumption, and damage the compressor in the outside unit. The remedy recommended is: - Install a 12x12 return in the bedrooms (3) - Redesign the supply plenum - Redesign the return plenum - Route a new return trunk line from the new returns to the plenum - Remove the 14” supply trunk from the third mixing box, enlarge it to a 16” and route it to the plenum - Install manual dampers in the two new supply trunks for adjustment - Install 5” MEDIA filter on the return riser to eliminate 1” filters in the home
