Customer indicated that the compressor was hot and had a relative over prior to tech’s arrival to check the refrigerant levels and found them to be low on charge and charged it with their own R410a refrigerant. Once tech arrived, the system was cooling. Maintenance is due soon and per maintenance plan a quick refrigerant leak search was performed. Tech identified the leak quickly at the indoor evaporator coil. Customer is now aware that there is a leak, and would like to receive an indoor coil replacement quote to have an idea of what he may expect. Currently not interested in system replacement. Need to check the windings during the maintenance, maintenance may need to be scheduled soon.
