Quick and efficient service

We woke up to one of our units (not installed by Jackson & Sons) not heating. We have a service contract with Jackson & Sons so I called on a Friday and the technician, Kyle, was here within a couple of hours! We have always had amazing service from Jackson & Sons with installation, regular maintenance, to now repair.

Tech was informed previous tech had came system ran for 1 hour then thermostat cut off tech found condensate pump was unplugged tech plugged pump and system started up no issues tech suspects tech left pump unplugged and pump filled up within 1 hour didn’t pump out and shut 24v power to system.

Tech found 4 year old downstairs Payne outdoor unit compressor not running due to a failed 30/5 uF dual run capacitor. Joy confirmed 5 year Payne warranty. Tech replaced capacitor for testing purposes. Found Lennox AHU in crawlspace corresponds to Payne ODU. Allowed system to stabilize to check refrigerant pressures. Tech found TXV superheat is low. Tech found kink in suction line by outdoor unit. Found no temp drop across kink. Documented kink with picture. Return side of indoor coil is dirty and return box is not secured to the back of the air handler. AHU is pulling some crawlspace air around the edges. Tech recommends removing return box, thoroughly cleaning indoor coil, and putting return box back in place with zip screws and mastic to air seal all sides. Upstairs system is an older R22 Comfortmaker split system. Tech recommends having both systems on preventive maintenance and plan for upstairs system replacement soon due to age/expected lifespan. FOUND DOWNSTAIRS DAMPER HAS FAILED. $1010.00 PLUS TAX. CUSTOMER APPROVED NEED TO ORDER AND RETURN TO REPLACE. FOUND AUXILIARY PAN FULL AS WELL DUE TO PRIMARY AND SECONDARY DRAINS IN WRONG PAN INLETS. SWITCHED TO CORRECT INLETS FOUND IMPROPER SLOPE. MOVED TRAP OUTSIDE OF PAN AND CUT/SPLICED PVC LINES FOR PROPER SLOPE. TESTED DRAINAGE WITH NO FURTHER CHALLENGES.

Tech performed ESA on one system. Tech found no challenges with system, system is operating properly at this time. However, tech noticed high humidity in crawlspace. Tech found areas where floor joists are darker than others, found majority of branch lines sweating. Recommend installation of dehumidifier to keep a controlled humidity level in crawlspace. Built estimate and sent to customer. Billing out service agreement extension per office.

Upon arrival customer stated humidity has been high throughout whole house. Tech found fan in the on position at upstairs and downstairs thermostats. Tech switched both to the auto position. Recommended investing in service agreement. Customer is interested in one time a year service for both systems, $298.00 plus tax for one time a year on both systems. Tech collected $100.35 by check for service call fee.

Performed ESA on two systems, customer stated upstairs blower has been noisy. Tech inspected blower and found no issues, tech ran system at 100% and supply air noise is noticeable. Tech stated this is normal operation of the system and blower will ramp up and down as needed. Customer extended PSA on both systems, collected $745.12 by card. Both systems are cooling properly.
