I completed diagnostics and found the compressor was operational but no fan. When pulling the power at disconnect found a wasp nest, needed to kill wasp and removed nest. I checked the dual capacitor . I need to make repair to further troubleshoot AC. I quoted repair and it was authorized and performed. Everything was operational when leaving.

I completed diagnostics and found the fan blade does free spin but has some resistance. I removed the fan from condenser and found the bearings are starting to fail. The capacitor is not within spec. I quoted repair and it was authorized and performed. I checked filter - clean but it is a “hog hair” filter and recommended a pleated filter. Based on it age (16 years), having the outdated refrigerant, not having a warranty, condition, and the cost of needed future repairs I recommend planning on replacing AC in near future.

I completed diagnostics and found the filter dirty. I pulled and suggested to check every 30 days, a blocked filter can cause no cooling or no heating. The 60/10 capacitor imploded/ failed. I replaced part with customers permission. The system is now cooling with proper pressures. I also informed customer there smells like a natural gas leak at the lamp in front of home, I suggested to call Columbia gas to inspect.

Upon arrival the customer stated a friends son replaced the capacitor and system is still not cooling. I found the condenser fan motor was running at the beginning of call and stopped working immediately, The motor was very hot. I confirmed that the condenser fan motor has failed. I gave the customer repair/ replacement options. The customer needs time to think and will call back later today with decision. I informed the customer that I left the disconnect off at the a/c.

Upon arrival I Installed new blower motor that was covered under manufacturer warranty. I checked filter - clean but is a very restrictive filter. I recommended a less restrictive filter. AC is now operational Everything was operational when leaving.

I completed diagnostics and found contactor has failed and is burnt up It needs a new contactor to further troubleshoot system. I quoted repair. The system has r22 refrigerant and is flatlined at 123 psig. Without operation the pressures seem okay. The repair authorized and performed. Wrapped approximately 6 ft of exposed suction line with insulation Everything was operational when leaving. Based on age, having the outdated refrigerant, cost of seen and future unseen repairs, not having a warranty a new lack of efficiency I recommend planning on replacing system in near future.

I completed diagnostics and found that only the fan was operational. I checked dual capacitor and it was out of spec. I need to make repairs to further troubleshoot AC. I quoted repair and it was authorized and performed. the suction pressure is not to par and Superheat is too high. The system is low on r22 refrigerant and is also undersized per sq ft of home. The system has a leak, high probability of leak being in the evaporator coil. Based on age (19 years old), having the old outdated refrigerant, cost of seen and unseen repairs, not having a warranty, lack of efficiency and condition I recommend planning on replacing system in near future. Spoke to Keith, via phone call, he was not wanting to go with a top off of refrigerant or go over replacement options at this time. Wanted a second opinion. The system was operational when leaving.

Upon arrival I found the fan operational but I could hear the compressor humming. I checked the dual capacitor and it needs replaced to further troubleshoot system. I quoted repair and it was authorized and performed. The condenser coil needs cleaned as head pressure is high and unit appears to be possibly overcharged. I quoted the cleaning and it was authorized and performed. The system was operational when leaving.

I completed diagnostics and found the condenser with fan on, no compressor. Could hear it humming. I checked the dual capacitor and found it out of specification. I quote the repair and it was authorized and performed. Compressor still not kicking over. I quoted a hard start boost relay. The repair authorized and performed. Now fan and compressor is operational. AC is suspected low on 410a refrigerant. The homeowner stated he needed to add refrigerant in the past. The System is estimated 3 pounds low on 410a. I went over the options with homeowner. Topped off. Explained options of repair leak or replace AC. The homeowner went with repairs. System was operational when leaving. The homeowner is aware he will be needing a replacement in near future.

I completed diagnostics and found the filter was plugged. It needs a new 20x25x1 pleated filter. I recommend not using the rinse type that system has currently. I found only the fan operational, no compressor. Checked dual capacitor rated for 35/5 mfds., actual reading 0/.15 mfds. The part failed and needs replaced to further troubleshoot. I quoted the repair and it was authorized and performed. The AC is now operational. The system was fully operational when leaving.

Upon arrival the homeowner stated the drain line was plugged and causing water to flood basement. After inspection I found the unit with a completely plugged filter causing unit to freeze up and then thaw causing water. I removed the filter to troubleshoot as no other filter was present on site. I checked the drain - clean. Everything was operational when leaving.
