Great Attitude but a bit misleading

First of all I was happy to get someone out here so quickly and I appreciated being called on Sunday when extra time was available to see if I would like the work to be done that day. I gladly agreed and changed my schedule for the day. Mr. Sosa came out and was very polite and accomplished his work quickly. I had tried to fix the toilet myself and bought the parts I needed. I had difficulty getting the connection from the water pipe off so I decided to stop there and ask a plumber to help. I had already purchase a new supply line and the toilet tank repair fill valve. I had also picked up a few other assorted pieces from home depot because I was told I could take them back. (which I will do today). Mr. Sosa told me I needed a new seal and when questioned I learned he was talking about the flapper. I told him I could easily replace the flapper as I had learned how to do this over the years and had several spare ones in the garage although that was not the problem. (By the way I had correctly diagnosed the problem and it was the tank valve.- and I had correctly replaced that). I had already replaced the supply line but could not unscrew the old one at the water line, and since I had broken the old part, rather than risk breaking the water line, I called the plumber. The plumber told me that home depot had sold me the wrong part so I reluctantly agreed to pay for the new materials. The price quoted was $200. He finished quickly and so I paid him the fee. When I went to inspect closer, so I could get it correct for the other toilets in my house (which are the same age), I noticed that he had in fact replaced the flapper. I also noticed my old tank valve was gone, as was the box that was held the tank valve I bought. I also noticed that one of the supply lines, I had purchased was gone too. I concluded that the plumber had replaced my old parts with the ones I had purchased but took the old ones to justify charging me for new parts. If I honestly did pay for new parts, I would have like to keep the "new parts" I had purchased so I could return them to help offset my costs. I think it is clear that the only work the plumber needed to do was to unscrew the one line....which would likely have resulted in me paying the $79.50 fee quoted for a service call. I obviously did not need to pay for new parts (since the ones I purchased were used. He did replace the $10 flapper so I would agree that the total cost should have been $100. I feel I overpaid by $100. Perhaps education should cost me something and so next time you better believe I will want to see all new parts that are needed and want to see the job priced out. I will also make sure I am not charged for parts that I had already purchased. (If this was going to be a problem he should have actually provided the new parts I was charged for so I could take the ones I purchased back for a refund. Again the plumber was very friendly, and perhaps being an auditor for over 30 years is coming out in me....I am not stupid or ignorant and do not appreciate being treated as such. Other than this the service was terrific. I would definitely use MyPlumber again, although will not be so trusting.
