Responded to an emergency AC call for a shoe store at the Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia California. Found their split Carrier system with the condenser shut off at the disconnect. Attached gauges and power on, PSI shot up immediately so turned back off. Washed condenser coils thoroughly to bring down head-pressure. Retested. Pressures down but unit blew fuses again. Continued troubleshooting, determined that compressor is pulling high amps and should be replaced. System is old, customer may consider replacing whole system over just repairs. Will quote both options.
