Our A/C stopped working and was not sure who to call, so I used good ole Google. South Coast cooling and heating came up. There were a lot of good reviews, so I called them late in the evening. They scheduled me for the next day. Matthew Joeckel was the tech. He showed up at 08:00 am on time and had the problem diagnosed in no time. He quoted me a price of $517.19 The blower and capacitor were bad. He had everything changed out, and working before lunch. Great job Matthew.
Found condenser fan motor not working, found bad capacitor, replaced capacitor, found system low on freon, no signs of leaks recharged system
The customer was not interested in any brand but American Standard.
Check blower motor and amperage check capacitor for blower motor checked all electrical connections checked all ductwork check evaporator coil check primary drain line and secondary drain line check amperage on condenser fan motor and compressor check contactor and capacitor check Freon levels
Check blower motor and amps checked all duct work checked all electrical connections check drains and blue primary drain check secondary pan checked condenser fan motor amps and compressor amps check Freon levels
Found upstairs filter clogged not letting air flow through to system making system freeze up check Freon levels all good check coil all good
Exhaust motor assembly fan has rusted and fell apart. Will need to be replaced to fix.
Diagnostic performed: Unit has seen a lack of maintenance and will require some work to help performance, comfort & System life. Heater has a 20.2 degree rise from unit return and is working well. A/C looks to be charged accurately based on pressures & VSAT, cannot confirm because indoor and outdoor temp 43 degrees (would need to schedule additional diagnostic when above 70 degrees to confirm). Indoor coil showing signs of rust/corrosion & Coil is very dirty which will impact cooling performance & increase the electric bill when running, recommend coil cleaning to increase efficiency and reduce corrosive growth and reduce breakdown opportunities. Primary drain pan is backed up and will need to be blown out and cleared of clog, if clog is not cleared unit could over flow and cause water damage. Unit has gaps around indoor Air Handler that should be sealed to stop outdoor temperatures impacting system performance & overall home comfort, recommend sealing indoor unit. Indoor capacitor is
Install crew did not seat in Line 2 on the heater side breaker and because of this the poor commection caused the breaker to trip after runnimg for a while. Comnected Line 2 securely and let the unit run for 45 minites with no breaker trips and the home had risen by 9 degrees of heat by this time. All eletrical and Amp draws were within range and functioning properly.
Home Warranty: heating system was operating normally upon arrival, no odors being produced. Found charred wires at blower motor capacitor. Replaced wires and capacitor. Blower motor amp draw in range at this time. Recommend cleaning furnace compartment. Also recommend installing eliminator in supply duct to kill viruses and bacteria in the air.
Diagnostic: air handler had a burning smell throughout the house appears as if there was a power surge. Breakers were triped at the pannel multiple burnt wire on in the unit itself. Heat kit did not have continuity on one of the limit switches indicating it is bad. Motor was ohm out and had good reading. System is old recommended replacement options as well and replacing the. Heat kit. Sequencer, breaker and some high voltage wires that got burnt up. Called multiple supply stores and it will take 3-5 days to get the parts here once ordered.
Wanted info on how to turn off system from thermostat, I helped her complete that task.
Ac repair: primary drain line was clogged. Recommend vacuuming drain line out and blowing through with CO2. Drain line has been vacuumed, and is draining normally. Also vacuumed the secondary drain pan to remove excess water.
Home warranty: system is low on refrigerant. Recommend charging the system and performing a leak search to find source of refrigerant leak. Charged the system with 2 lbs. R410A. Home warranty is reviewing claim and will return with a response in 24-48 hours.
Found leak on outdoor unit, charged up system and for customer cooling properly again. Will research outdoor unit condenser/coil model to see of it's still under warranty and send them an estimate based on findings for a total solution.
