11 y.o Client called us out today due to no cooling from outdoor system. Client states previous tech had found that pressures were low on last visit. Usually an indication of a refrigerant leak. Cycled cooling. System is only producing a 4 to 5° split (normal should be 18 to 20°). Pressures are 1/3 of what manufacturers recommend. Went over options on how to deal with refrigerant leak. Due to the state and age of the system advised client be wary of major repairs. Clients are interested in adding mini split system to main home. Will have engineer come out to measure out system and give clients proper estimate. Clients have elected to move forward with recharging system. Explained there are no guarantees on how long refrigerant will last. Pumped in roughly 4 1/3 pounds system is now cooling at a 19° split. Given authorization from manager to credit 50% of repairs toward new system. Thank you for trusting Thompson with your heating, cooling and plumbing needs.
