Brendan, Craig, and Jordan worked quickly and efficiently to remove and treat the extensive water damage in my home. I appreciated their thorough attention to detail, especially checking places that wouldn't be obvious for water damage, and how diligently they worked to get everything completed in a timely manner. However, it was made known to me after this process that one of the crew made a judgmental comment about the amount of clutter in my home to a trusted neighbor who was helping me. I know it was not intended to be hurtful but that was the impact on an already sensitive situation. It's human nature to have thoughts and immediate first impressions, but just a friendly reminder that no one can ever really know what someone else is going through, especially when judgments are voiced. I sincerely debated the merits of providing this feedback as the crew ultimately did good work otherwise. In the future, I would suggest limiting the sharing of information outside of the crew in general, as one seemingly innocuous comment could have even greater repercussions. If, for example, a home didn't have any clutter, but all of the stuff inside had been expensive, and it was anyone other than a trusted friend making conversation, it could have potentially caused that home to become a target for theft through a single comment. This may seem like an extreme comparison, but this line of work allows crews access to peoples' lives and potential insight for their lifestyles. It's important for the crews to remember that as much as they're treating the physical integrity of a house during the remediation process, they're also being implicitly trusted to preserve the emotional safety of a home as well.
