I feel the need to share how refreshing it is to find and deal with such a customer-focused company as Cal’s Plumbing. After a costly attempt at having another company repair a main waterline leak, and having it turn into merely a “quote” for the work to be done next week (no actual repair service was provided), I finally connected with Cal’s Plumbing. They quickly responded with a caring, diligent and honest repairman, Dan. He reviewed the problem area, the water service line and the difficult surface under consideration. He advised me to first connect with American Leak Detection (ALD) who could pinpoint the leak location, rather than have him attempt to do so by tearing up the concrete entry to our carport one foot at a time, without being certain he could hit the spot. He informed me of what ALD would charge for the location work—which, coincidently, was about what we paid the first plumbing company to merely provide a quote! I called ALD; they arranged for a morning visit as it was already late in the day since so many hours were lost in having the first company come and merely provide me with a quote. ALD sent a professional first thing in the morning, who found the spot in less than an hour. Then I called Cal’s Plumbing and spoke with Leonard (Dan was off this day), who had already been informed that I would be calling and he came in less than half an hour. Leonard is the consummate professional, quick, respectful, polite and anxious to get the work done. After introductions, he saw the marked spot, went right to his truck for a Jack Hammer, and commenced the work. In short order (it was grueling work) he had a 2.5’ x 2’ section of thick concrete cut out neatly, dug down at least 2’ to find the line, identified the crack, cut that section and replaced it with a “Smith Blair repair coupling,” (that’s what’s on the invoice) so that it would be a stronger repair than merely applying the glue originally quoted by the first company. He pressurized the system and tested it and the meter reading. Then he cleaned up the site, removed and hauled away the busted concrete and was completely done while still early in the morning! He then settled with me on the invoice (even crediting back the original service call by Dan since they offer free estimates) and provided me with a Military Discount, something that really helped and is so appreciated. (We had discussed military backgrounds during his work and my attempts to get him to take a break.) I checked in and took photos while the work was done and he never minded my presence. Leonard was such a thoughtful and honest individual. I can imagine he might come across as rough to some who do not see how direct and committed he is to getting the work done quickly and professionally. It was a pleasure to spend time with such a dedicated individual. I very highly recommend this company, Cal’s Plumbing, and along with the staff I had the pleasure to interact with, Dan and Leonard.
