After arriving to the home, the homeowner made me aware of her interest in converting from an electric range to a gas range. Currently the electric range is out of commission and she has been accustomed to cooking with gas in the past. In order to convert over a few things need to occur, such as the conversion from a 240 VAC outlet to a 120 VAC outlet, and the running of gas line to the stove area. I checked the gas system, which indicated that the system was a 2 PSI system, which supplies a Gas Pack, and Fireplace. This would give plenty of BTU’s for the appliance, however a regulator would still be installed to control input gas. Even though there is no national code for gas range venting, it is recommended and beneficial for the appliance to be vented whether it’s a down draft system or vent hood. After giving 2 estimates with upfront pricing, the homeowner concluded that staying electric would be the best route for her.
