The backflow preventer is intermittently discharging water pressure which sets off a water flow alarm. The backflow preventer also had a previous leak that was solved by the homeowner. This was done by tightening the fasteners on the front of the device. It is recommended to replace the backflow unit with a new one to ensure proper operation for years to come.
