Performed an AC tune-up today on a Carrier system, inspecting coils, checking refrigerant levels, and cleaning the condensate drain. The system was operating with low airflow, which we traced to a clogged filter and partially blocked return vent. After resolving the issue, airflow and cooling performance significantly improved.
Performed seasonal AC tune-ups on both Rheem and Trane systems at a residential property. For the Rheem unit, inspected the contactor, checked refrigerant pressures, and cleaned the outdoor coil. The Trane system required a capacitor test, thermostat calibration, and filter replacement. Both units were tested for temperature split and are now running efficiently ahead of peak summer heat.
Replaced a clogged TXV on a heat pump system. I recovered the refrigerant, removed the faulty valve, and brazed in a new OEM TXV. After evacuation and recharge, I tested subcooling and superheat to confirm proper metering and efficiency.
Responded to a no-cool call and found a low-pressure lockout. Checked the system and discovered a refrigerant leak at the Schrader valve. Replaced the valve core, pressure-tested with nitrogen, pulled a vacuum, and recharged the system with 5 lbs of R-410A.
