Steven was very quick to diagnose what was wrong with our AC system and laid out our options without making us feel pressured. His deep knowledge in this area showed in his ability to answer our questions and make recommendations. I would highly recommend Steven to anyone needing expert service for one’s AC.
Steven was very professional. He took time to troubleshoot and explain what was happening, how to correct and gave options.
Called CVJ in the AM and they provided service the same day as the request. They sent Steven out to check up on a potential issue. He was generous with his time and advice. At the same time, he was highly professional! I could not recommend CVJ and Steven highly enough!

Evaluated a 10-year-old system with a failed condenser fan motor. Quoted for motor replacement, capacitor, and labor. Also noted UV damage on the insulation wrap and recommended replacement for efficiency. Provided pricing and repair timeline so the homeowner could make an informed decision.
Replaced old metal ductwork with R-8 insulated flex duct in a home with poor airflow distribution. I calculated proper CFM per room and resized several branches to improve balance. All joints were sealed with mastic and tested for leaks. Final pressure readings confirmed airflow improvement and reduced system static pressure.
Customer had complaints of persistent indoor odors and sinus irritation. I conducted an IAQ inspection and installed a Pure AirX UV light in the air handler to target microbial buildup. Additionally, I treated the drain pan with Pure AirX tablets to prevent bacterial slime and blockages. I also inspected the return plenum for leaks and sealed minor gaps to prevent unfiltered air infiltration. IAQ levels should now improve steadily with active UV sanitation.
Performed spring maintenance and discovered the blower motor capacitor was reading below tolerance. Replaced the capacitor with a new 10 µF model rated for the system’s specs. I also cleaned the blower wheel and verified airflow across the evaporator coil. Refrigerant pressures were within range, and the drain line was flushed to ensure clear flow. The system is now operating safely and efficiently for the season.
Repaired a leaking duct plenum with several gaps around collar connections. Used mastic and mesh tape to seal joints and reinsulated the outer surface. Verified airflow improvements at two supply vents using an anemometer. Reduced conditioned air loss significantly in this zone.
Installed a Pure AirX UV light in an air handler that had visible signs of mold growth. First, I cleaned the evaporator coil and sanitized the blower compartment. Then, I mounted the Pure AirX UV lamp for continuous disinfection and added drain pan tablets for microbial prevention. System is now equipped to maintain cleaner air and protect indoor air quality year-round.
Conducted an AC tune-up for a 2.5-ton unit. Cleaned both indoor and outdoor coils, tightened high-voltage wiring, and flushed the condensate drain. Tested capacitor and contactor under load. System was running slightly high on head pressure, so I cleaned the coil again and saw improved readings. Overall, unit performance is solid for summer operation.
Responded to a no-cool call and found a clogged TXV restricting refrigerant flow. Recovered refrigerant, replaced the valve, pulled a vacuum to 500 microns, and recharged with R-410A. Verified superheat and subcooling were in spec. Unit is now cooling at full capacity with stabilized suction pressure.
Replaced several sections of deteriorated flex duct in a 20-year-old system. The inner liner had collapsed in two branches, causing airflow restriction. Measured and cut new R-8 insulated duct, sealed all connections with UL-181 mastic tape, and strapped them with reinforced supports. Balanced airflow at the supply registers afterward. Duct system is now fully functional, and static pressure readings confirmed improved efficiency and comfort in all zones.
During routine maintenance, I noticed algae growth in the condensate pan. Cleaned the pan and added Pure AirX drain pan tablets to inhibit future growth. This helps prevent clogged drain lines, musty odors, and water damage—especially in high-humidity environments like attics.
Completed an indoor air quality service that involved installing a Pure AirX whole-home UV light and drain pan tablets. The customer had concerns about allergy flare-ups. I mounted the UV lamp near the evaporator coil to sterilize biological contaminants and installed tablets in the condensate pan to inhibit microbial growth. I also checked static pressure and airflow. IAQ system is now actively treating air and reducing microbial exposure.
Performed spring maintenance and identified a cracked contactor causing intermittent startup failures. Replaced it with a heavy-duty model rated for the unit’s load. Also noted worn insulation on suction line; recommended UV-resistant wrap for energy efficiency. Coil, capacitor, and refrigerant levels were within spec. Customer opted to proceed with all repairs for uninterrupted summer cooling.
Diagnosed a refrigerant leak in the evaporator coil. Offered a repair quote that included leak detection, coil replacement, refrigerant recharge, and labor. Explained potential future issues and warranty options with the homeowner to help guide their decision.
Provided a detailed quote for a new AC system in a 2,400 sq ft home. Performed Manual J load calculation and assessed insulation and ductwork condition. Recommended a 3-ton variable-speed system for energy savings and indoor humidity control.
Today I replaced an outdated 3.5-ton AC unit with a high-efficiency two-stage model. Removed the old condenser and air handler, brazed new copper lines, pressure-tested with nitrogen, and vacuumed the system down to 500 microns. Verified proper refrigerant charge using superheat/subcooling method. Installed a new digital thermostat and programmed schedules for optimal efficiency. Unit is operating quietly and efficiently with a balanced airflow profile.
