I came out for a no cool and condensate leak. I checked the system over and found the system not running because the emergency pan was full, which tripped the float switch. There is a PVC tee on the drain line before the P-trap, which didn’t have a cap on it. The P-trap was clogged and it overflowed out the top of the tee and onto the decking and down into the kitchen ceiling. With approval, I cut the clogged P-trap out, installed a new P-trap and shortened the drop on the drain so it has proper fall along the entire drain line. I also vacuumed out the emergency pan. I cycled the system and checked all operations. All working properly. The decking and some insulation is saturated, so there still may be some condensation dripping from the ceiling until it fully dries.
I came out for a no cool on the upstairs system. I checked the system over. I found the blower motor not operating. He had a power surge the other day and the system hasn’t worked right since. The blower motor/module has failed. I’ll need to call a Carrier to get a price and availability of the motor/module and call back with a price. And a price to replace the Air Handler as well. I arrived to inspected the refegerant charge on a system we recently installed. I had the homeowner turn the system on and let the system run. I found the subcooling to be operating at 12.8 deg and the system calls for 1p deg subcooling. The temperatures difference from supply to returning was 18.1 degrees. I did not see any reason to adjust the refegerant charge. This system is running and operating per manufacture specifications.
Came out to call. Customer said AC wasn’t cooling and the heater was causing the breaker to trip. I checked system over and found that the heat strips and AC were coming on at the same time. Went through wiring to make sure nothing was wired wrong. Checked thermostat wiring as well. Once I checked wiring, I went to the components. I turned system off and heat strips were still coming on. Fan would kick on and not shut off. After running through diagnostics. I found the double stacked sequencer was passing voltage to the heat strips without it calling for it. Discussed with customer about repair. I replaced sequencer and wired it in. Checked both heat and AC to ensure system was working properly.
