Immediate Response and Excellent Service

Our furnace stopped working and my normal "go to" HVAC company wasn't available. My wife researched and found Five Star Heating & Cooling. It was a Saturday and they sent Ian out within 2 hours of our call. Ian was professional, wore a mask, and resolved the issue. No additional charge for Saturday service and he explained the issue. We definitely will be using Five Star H&C again!

I completed diagnostics and found the filter 100% blocked. The customer does not have one, he will go get one soon. The condenser coil 100% blocked and I cleaned with water and informed customer how important airflow is. Per no current issue after clearing airflow tech “assumes” system either froze or the condenser high pressure switch opened. To prevent further issues tech suggested regular maintenance. I also suggested to prepare to replace the furnace. The system is operational upon departure.

After correcting the air flow. I was able to determine system was low on Freon and explained it to the landlord. The landlord gave me permission to add R-22, I added 1 # and uploaded before and after pressures. the system is cooling with in manufacturing specifications at this time.

I completed the diagnostics and found the condensate drain clogged 100% and the float switch preformed its job by stopping power once it detected moisture. I replaced the float switch and placed in new spot that is close to old spot (dry spot). I explained pvc drain needs replaced per the amount of stuff inside. And after talking with manager, we decided to replace wet switch. I have no way of drying the felt on this one, plus replace pvc drain line. All parts stated above replaced, glued/ secured, everything back to running with in manufacturing specifications.

I completed diagnostics and spoke to the customer and they stated ac was clicking found it tripping on low pressure. I searched for leak but couldn't find one. I gave options to do nitrogen leak search or fill system and to monitor it. The customer chose to just fill with refrigerant. I Added 5.5lbs of 410A. The pressures now 132/304 subcool 9.8. Temp split 19. The system is operational upon departure.

Upon arrival, I found I was unable to replace the blower motor due to the condensate trap being glued in place and was in the way. I informed the customer we would have to uninstall the condensate trap and install a new one along with the new blower motor. Customer understands. System is not operational upon departure.
