Latest need to call on Thompson was water heater quit and was leaking water thru the door at its front. When I called and spoke to Will he set up an immediate appointment and the tech would be here in about 20 minutes! Ignacio arrived exactly as promised and proceeded to determine the problem. The 20 year old water heater was finally in need of being replaced! Ramon arrived with the new unit and together they proceeded to remove the old and install the new unit. Then they checked all the faucets to make sure they were responsive before they left. Thank you Will ,Ignacio, and Ramon for such a speedy recovery!
6 y.o Client called us out today due to system not properly cooling home. Upon arrival found outdoor condenser non-operational. Contactor is engaging from thermostat call. Insufficient voltage from one disconnect leg. Issue without side power. Client would need to call electrician to find source of issue. Electrical insight (760)3049070. Thank you for trusting Thompson with your heating, cooling and plumbing needs.
Upon arrival found Honeywell 2 Zone system with zone 2 error code and damper closed shut; reset zoning board and ran to cool; airflow is 17 degree split supply temperature of 58 in downstairs bedroom; airflow is present at each supply; zone 2 error code removed; proper operation at this time.
Cleaned evaporator coil in place, Cleaned and flushed condensation drain line and drain pan, rebuilt condensation drain line to include air vent for proper flow of condensation. Ran to cool for 45 minutes observing proper condensation removal. If problem persists, recommend plumbing inspection of main plumbing line.
Upon arrival found compressor short cycles and drawing intermittent amperage spikes up to 88amp causing 40 amp breaker to trip. Hard Start not installed; recommended AC replacement to include plenum sealed air tight and new 40amp breaker
Replaced approximately 12 inches of 7/8” condensation hose, clean wye branch tailpiece and reinstated drainage piping. Ensured no leaks were present once repair was made, system functioning as designed.
Performed annual whole house plumbing evaluation, items that were noticed as requiring attention were listed on estimated that will provided to client via email. Performed annual descale service on 3 year old tankless water heater
Upon arrival to install water safety switch, found primary drain line with condensation at a stand still and overflowing from air vent into attic space; attempt to flush primary drain line met resistance and was unable to clear; removed water from line and installed water safety switch to prevent the potential for future overflow; installed dual capacitor and ran system to cool; at this time there is no water in coil pan, exit ports are clear and free of debris; recommended plumbing inspection to solve primary drain line inability to remove condensation.
Added a cap to the condensate drain, checked for refrigerant leaks and added a charge to the system.
Upon arrival found found 4 yr split 4 ton WC Heat Pump with evidence of refrigerant leak repair approximately 3 weeks ago. Refrigerant is holding at this time, water leak is present from clogged condensation drain line overflow and water is settling in drain pan with a back tilt. Condensation rain line has uphill slope in closet. Evaporator coil is rusted; Recommend reinstalling air handler, and performing leak search for a potential warranty repair on existing equipment or replacing with High Efficiency Variable Speed Heat Pump to address existing problems. Scheduled install for 8/5/24
5 y.o Client called us out today to look at issue with cooling turning on when calling for heat. Client states the heat will only turn on in auxiliary mode. Upon inspection found system was not a heat pump. Went into settings for thermostat and found that settings had been changed as if system was a heat pump. Inputted proper settings and system is now acting accordingly. Cycled cooling. System is producing a 16 to 17° split. Inspected condenser, secondary motor control is good. Hooked up refrigerant gauges and found pressures to be in spec. No hard start kit present. Component recommended after year five per manufacturer. Condenser coils are fairly clean. Replaced filter 14 x 25. Thank you for trusting Thompson with your heating, cooling and plumbing needs.
Installed one new 70,000 BTU two-stage variable speed furnace with 3 ton X series air conditioner with matching indoor coil, propane, conversion kit on gas furnace, removed 3 ton air conditioner to other side of fence. Installed new thermostat on that system.. Installed new 4 ton heat pump system in place of old 4 ton AC along with matching indoor coil and air handler. New Wi-Fi thermostat included as well. Replaced three ducts in attic.
Upon arrival found air handler with water coming out of secondary overflow. Julienne mentioned this is a reoccurring problem every year. Primary drain line has no air vent for proper condensation removal. Drain pan an drain line are dirty and backed up causing water leak. 14 x 25 x 1 pleated filter in place is restricted, adding to slow removal of condensation. Recommend Evaporator drain line cleaning and flush, evaporator coil and drain pan cleaning in place and rebuilding condensation drain line for proper condensation removal. Thompson’s Service Partner Plan helps to ensure that the system will work properly moving forward and provides a discount on services.
Upon arrival found 9 yr 3 ton split Maytag running on low refrigerant; recommended replacement or repair
11 y.o Client called us out today due to no cooling from outdoor system. Client states previous tech had found that pressures were low on last visit. Usually an indication of a refrigerant leak. Cycled cooling. System is only producing a 4 to 5° split (normal should be 18 to 20°). Pressures are 1/3 of what manufacturers recommend. Went over options on how to deal with refrigerant leak. Due to the state and age of the system advised client be wary of major repairs. Clients are interested in adding mini split system to main home. Will have engineer come out to measure out system and give clients proper estimate. Clients have elected to move forward with recharging system. Explained there are no guarantees on how long refrigerant will last. Pumped in roughly 4 1/3 pounds system is now cooling at a 19° split. Given authorization from manager to credit 50% of repairs toward new system. Thank you for trusting Thompson with your heating, cooling and plumbing needs.
