This home in Johnston, IA is having a sweep & inspection Level 2 for a reality sale. The current home owner has contracted for the services and we found some minor issues with the chase cover and rear fireplace wall. These issues were not noticed by the home inspector since the normally don't report on fireplaces.
Gas fireplace inspection at this home in Johnston, IA. The new homeowner called because his wife was smell gas in the home every time they started the fireplace. Thank goodness for wives! The gas fireplace had been installed in a wood burning fireplace and was installed incorrectly the gas vent pipe and the fresh air pipe were sharing the same vent for the fireplace. This is a serious safety hazarded and the homeowners wife being pregnant could have developed complications.
