I arrived to the unit not cooling at all. Both upstairs and downstairs thermostats had displays on and showing it was cooling. I immediately went into the attic and found the furnace to be off and the zone control board to be blank. I went into the attic and verified power was on for both indoor and outdoor equipment. I then went back upstairs and began diagnosing the issue. The unit is properly receiving the correct voltage but the zone control board has failed completely. I showed my findings to our client. I was also able to speak with her husband over the phone. He elected to have me preform a temporary bypass of the zone board until an electrician is able to come out to the home and fix any outlying issues. I cautioned the home owners that the bypass is temporary and if any residual electrical damage occurs it could damage more components on the equipment. I believe all of the problems are correlated to the original power outage from the storm that happened a few weeks ago. They
I arrived at our clients home to the unit not cooling properly. He had recent power outages due to storms in the area. I proceeded to the outdoor unit fist and tested all the electrical components. Everything passed inspection. I then went inside and found the zone control board blinking with a low pressure error. I removed the discharge air temperature sensor and diagnose it to have failed. I showed my findings to our clients and we discussed how I would need to replace the sensor before I could further test the unit. I had a replacement sensor and tested the unit. I let the unit run for 20 minutes without any other lockouts or issues. I checked the refrigerant pressures and measured the temperatures at the indoor unit. The pressures were reading abnormal. Indicating low Freon pressures and I was only getting 13° drop at the indoor unit. We discussed how the unit may be low on Freon due to a leak. Our client had to get ready for work and he elected to monitor the unit for now. I w
Cooling AC system maintenance Performed tune up and found no evidence of rodent chewing/droppings. Systems are cooling perfect. Return duct for kitchen unit needs to be increased as we have a noise from air velocity. Returning Wednesday 8am to change ductwork for kitchen return.
